Tiler laying a large-format tile on a bathroom wall in Valencia with spacers and a tile levelling system

Tiling a bathroom in 2026 costs between 40 and 60 € per square metre with materials and labour, and a complete standard bathroom comes to 700-1,500 €; a small one of 3 m², 690-1,150 €. Removing the old tiles adds 10-17 €/m². These are market prices, not our rates.

In a bathroom the expensive part is hardly ever the tile. It's what turns up once the old tiles come off: the wall that crumbles, the layer of floor hiding under another one, the plumbing behind the bath. That's where a bathroom quoted at 900 € ends up at 1,400 with the work half done and you with no room to say no. That's why we give you the figure first: send us two photos from opposite corners and rough measurements, and you have it in writing, with what's included and what isn't, usually in under 2 hours.

The person who strips and lays the tiles is an independent professional who works with us. We fix the price, arrange the dates and answer for it if something goes wrong. We'd rather you knew that now than on the first day of work.

Tiler laying floor tiles

What tiling and flooring jobs we organise

  • Full bathroom: Walls and floor, with or without stripping out the old tiles. It's the headline job and the one that raises the most questions, mostly about the order: first the old tiles come off, then the chases and any exposed plumbing get sorted, then the walls, then the floor, and finally sealing and sanitaryware. When someone gives you a price without asking what's behind the wall, be wary. What the market charges for the whole bathroom, item by item, is in how much a bathroom renovation costs.
  • Kitchen: The splashback between the worktop and the wall units is a small, rewarding job: it's done in a day or two and changes the look of the whole kitchen. Also replacing the floor without touching the units, which can be done if the new flooring goes on top.
  • Floors: Ceramic and porcelain tiles throughout the home, in a single room or on the terrace. Including what's usually left out of cheap quotes: levelling the base, sorting out where the floor meets the doors (sometimes they have to be trimmed), skirting and transition strips. Market prices per metre and for a whole flat are in how much it costs to lay porcelain flooring.
  • Repairs: Four loose tiles in a hallway, a broken tile in the shower tray, grout eaten away by mould, the black silicone round the edge of the bath. Small jobs that hardly anyone wants to take on and that annoy you every day at home.

A full bathroom almost never involves just one trade: if a supply point has to move, a plumber comes in, and if the ceiling is lowered with spotlights, plasterboard (pladur) work too. When it's all on the same quote, the trades don't get in each other's way and you don't lose a week between one and the next.

A local point. Valencia's water is hard, and ordinary cement grout stains and breaks down sooner exactly where the most water falls. Asking for epoxy grout in the shower area costs a bit more and saves you grief two years from now.

Rough 2026 market ranges, these are not our rates: we give you the fixed price in writing before work starts.

The bathroom metre by metre, with how much each tile format adds, is in how much it costs to tile a bathroom; the figures there come from preciom2, with materials but without VAT, which is why they look lower than the ones in this table, which include VAT. If the floor you want is laminate or floating floorboards rather than ceramic, see how much it costs to fit laminate flooring. If your job is taking out the bath, the item-by-item breakdown is in how much it costs to replace a bath with a shower tray.

Two more things push up the bill and surprise everyone. Large-format and rectified tiles are slower to lay, need a very flat wall and a levelling system, and often take two people. And the rubble: a small bathroom produces more than a tonne of debris that has to be carried down, loaded and taken to a licensed waste handler. If a skip is needed in the street, in the city you have to allow for a street occupation permit (ocupación de vía pública).

How it works

  1. Tell us with photos. Through the quote form or on WhatsApp. Send the bathroom or the room from two different corners and give us rough measurements. If you've already chosen the tile, pass on the product code and format: it changes the price more than you'd think.
  2. You get the fixed price. In writing, with what's included, what isn't and what happens to the rubble. You don't pay for it and it doesn't commit you to anything, usually in under 2 hours. For full bathrooms someone usually needs to see the job before the figure can be fixed, and in that case we say so instead of throwing out a number.
  3. We agree the dates and you know who's coming. The professional's name and phone number before they knock on your door, and how many days it takes, in writing.
  4. You check it and pay at the end. Cash, Bizum (Spain's instant bank-transfer app) or bank transfer. If the job involves buying materials in advance, that's agreed in the quote before work starts, never halfway through.

You can buy the materials yourself or have them included in the quote. Many clients prefer to choose them at the showroom, and that's fine with us: we only ask that you have them at home before the start date, with 10% extra boxes. How many boxes and bags of tile adhesive to order is worked out by the tile calculator.

Where we cover

Valencia city and the surrounding towns of l'Horta: Mislata, Burjassot, Paterna, Quart de Poblet, Manises, Aldaia, Alaquàs, Xirivella, Torrent, Picanya, Paiporta, Catarroja, Alfafar, Benetússer, Sedaví, Massanassa, Alboraia and Tavernes Blanques. Outside that, ask and we'll give you a clear answer.

What changes from one area to another is what turns up under the tiles. In ground-floor flats and detached houses in Torrent, Paiporta or Catarroja you find floor slabs with rising damp: laying on top without dealing with the cause means paying for the same floor twice. That's why we ask beforehand which floor the home is on and when the building was built, which says a fair bit about what's underneath.

Why we agree the price before work starts

Because tiling is the trade where the line “you couldn't see this before” comes up most easily.

A wall gets stripped and a crumbling brick appears. The floor comes up and there are two more layers underneath. The bath comes out and the pipework behind it needs a plumber. All of that really happens. The difference is what happens next: either someone throws a new figure at you with the work half done and you swallow it, or you get a written proposal with its price and you decide whether the work carries on or stops. That's how we work.

Before that, the basics: a fixed price in writing, what's included and what isn't, how many days, who takes the rubble away. And if something isn't right, you tell us and we sort it out, without sending you off to talk to anyone.

Send us photos of the bathroom and we'll tell you what it costs before a single tile comes off.

Questions and answers

What people ask us about tiling and floors before getting a quote. If your question isn’t here, message us on WhatsApp.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom in Valencia?

Published figures talk of 40 to 60 €/m² with materials and labour, and an average of between 700 and 1,500 € for a standard bathroom. It's a rough guide, and it shoots up if the old tiles have to come off, the walls need levelling or the tiles are large format. We don't work from a rate card: we give you a fixed price for your bathroom before work starts.

Can you tile over the old tiles?

Sometimes, and it saves days and rubble. The condition is that the tiles underneath are solid: you tap the whole wall with your knuckles and, if it sounds hollow, it won't do. Bear in mind the wall comes forward a couple of centimetres, and that means dealing with door frames, stopcocks (llaves de paso) and sockets.

How much extra material do I need to buy?

10% extra over the actual square metres, and 15% if the format is large or laid on the diagonal, because the cuts eat up quite a lot. Buy everything from the same batch and calibre in one go: two boxes of the same product bought months apart can come out a slightly different shade, and it shows on the wall.

How much does it cost to replace the floor of a flat?

For porcelain, supply plus laying usually runs between 22 and 45 €/m² according to published ranges, and goes up to 45-60 €/m² with large-format or rectified tiles. On top of that you add removing the old floor and disposing of the rubble, if there is any. All of it is a rough guide, and it changes a lot depending on the state of the base.

How many days is the bathroom out of use?

A full bathroom usually takes three to five days of work, plus the setting time before you can walk on it or use the shower. If it's the only bathroom in the home, say so from the start: the order of the work can be arranged so the toilet works again as soon as possible.

Do you cover areas outside Valencia city?

Yes, in the towns around the city in l'Horta: Mislata, Burjassot, Paterna, Quart de Poblet, Manises, Aldaia, Alaquàs, Xirivella, Torrent, Picanya, Paiporta, Catarroja, Alfafar, Benetússer, Sedaví, Massanassa, Alboraia and Tavernes Blanques. Further out, ask before anything else: if we can't cover the area, it's better you know on day one.
