Electrician checking the breakers in an open fuse box in the hallway of a home in Valencia

An electrician in Valencia charges between 35 and 60 € per hour including VAT (IVA) in normal hours in 2026, and an everyday fault, like a burnt-out socket or an RCD (diferencial) that trips, comes to between 50 and 250 € depending on what needs replacing. An emergency starts at 110-130 €. These are market prices, not our rates.

Power only has two states: it works or it doesn't, and when it doesn't, nobody wants to wait three days. At Octo Service we organise electrical jobs in Valencia and the towns of l'Horta: you tell us what's happening on WhatsApp or through the form, we give you a fixed price in writing (usually in under 2 hours) and an independent professional who works with us comes to your home. You pay when the job is done, whether it's one loose socket or a whole new fuse box (cuadro eléctrico).

Electrician working on a fuse box

What we sort out

Faults, which is what almost everyone is after when they look for an emergency electrician in Valencia: the RCD that trips, half the flat without power, a socket that smells burnt, sparks when you plug something in, lights that flicker when the washing machine starts. If a socket has simply stopped working, the socket not working test tells you what you can check yourself and when to stop.

Everyday installation and replacement:

  • Sockets and switches: replacing ones that wobble or have burnt out, adding one where it's needed, fitting sockets with USB.
  • Light points: ceiling lights, recessed spotlights, wall lights, lamps on high ceilings, swapping halogens for LED.
  • Ceiling fans, cooker hoods, doorbells, video entry phones and electric water heaters (termos): appliances that need their own circuit and won't cope with just any socket.
  • New circuits: running a line to the air conditioning, the ceramic hob, the oven or the garage.
  • Fuse box: replacing old fuse boxes, adding circuit breakers (magnetotérmicos), splitting circuits, getting the installation ready for a power increase.

And the paperwork: the electrical installation certificate (boletín eléctrico, CIE), which the distribution company asks for to connect the power, raise the contracted power (potencia contratada) or regularise an old installation. Only a registered electrician (instalador autorizado) with a registration number can sign that certificate. If your case needs one, we tell you before work starts, not after the job is done.

What we don't do: complete installations in new builds or work on the street network. And there's nobody on call in the middle of the night, although we put power call-outs first.

Before you call: two minutes that save you money

If the RCD trips, switch off all the breakers, switch the main one back on and then switch the others on one by one until it trips again. The circuit that sets it off is the one with the problem. Unplug whatever hangs off it (the water heater and the washing machine are the usual suspects) and try again.

If the whole flat has no power, look out onto the landing or ask a neighbour. When the cut is in the street or at the building's meter, it's the distribution company that has to come out, and it costs you nothing.

With that information in hand the visit is shorter and the quote is tighter, because nobody has to pay for the time spent finding out what you already know.

Replacing the fuse box: when it's really time

It's time when the box still has porcelain fuses or a single breaker for the whole flat, when there's no RCD, when the installation has no earth or when you want to raise the power and the supplier asks you for paperwork. Also when the power goes every time you switch on the oven and the hob together: that isn't bad luck, it's a fuse box that's too small for the home you have now.

For replacing a fuse box we haven't found a published range that can be checked, so we won't throw a figure at you. What changes the number is specific: how many circuits have to be split, whether the wall has to be chased to run an earth, whether the box moves to a new spot and whether the job ends with a certificate.

We ask you for a couple of photos of the open fuse box and the label on the meter, and with that we agree the price. If something nobody could see turns up when it's taken apart, you get a new proposal with the amount and you decide.

How it works

  1. You write to us about what's happening. Photos of the fuse box, the burnt-out socket or the ceiling where the light goes.
  2. You get the fixed price in writing, with materials and labour shown separately.
  3. The electrician who works in your area comes round. Their name and phone number are in your account before they arrive.
  4. You test it in front of them and pay when it's done: cash, Bizum (Spain's instant bank-transfer app) or bank transfer.

Why a fixed price before work starts

With electrics an open-ended quote is especially awkward, because you can't judge whether three hours of work really took three hours or an hour and a half. With a fixed price that argument doesn't exist: the figure you accepted is the one you pay, and however long the job takes is our problem.

Along with the price you also get the terms in writing: what's included, what isn't and what happens if something goes wrong. We're just starting out in Valencia and have no long track record to show you, so this is what we put up front: a price that doesn't move and someone to complain to who doesn't disappear.

Areas we cover

Valencia city and the surrounding towns of l'Horta: Mislata, Burjassot, Paterna, Quart de Poblet, Manises, Aldaia, Alaquàs, Xirivella, Torrent, Picanya, Paiporta, Catarroja, Alfafar, Benetússer, Sedaví, Massanassa, Alboraia and Tavernes Blanques.

In the city, the call-out fee is included in the price. If your town carries a distance surcharge, it's written on the quote before you accept. If your town isn't on the list, ask us: we'll tell you whether we cover it before you waste your morning.

If you also have jobs waiting that aren't electrical, take a look at handyman in Valencia and plumber in Valencia: they can go on the same quote.

Tell us about the fault and ask for a quote. It costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

Questions and answers

What people ask us about electrics before getting a quote. If your question isn’t here, message us on WhatsApp.

Why does the RCD trip again and again?

Almost always there's an appliance or a circuit leaking to earth, and the usual suspects are the electric water heater, the washing machine and the oven. Above, in “Before you call”, there's a trick to find out which one in two minutes, with no tools. With that information in hand the repair goes much faster and the quote comes out tighter.

How much does it cost to replace a fuse box in Valencia?

We haven't found a published, verifiable range just for replacing a fuse box in Valencia, so we won't give you a made-up figure. The price depends on the number of circuits, whether an earth has to be run where there isn't one, whether the box moves to a new spot and whether the job needs an electrical certificate. We look at it from photos of the open box and agree a price with you before work starts.

Do I need an electrical certificate, and who signs it?

The distribution company asks for it for new connections, power increases, major changes to the installation and sometimes when the contract changes in older flats. Only a registered electrician with a registration number can issue it. On the market it costs 100-180 € if the installation already complies, 120-200 € to raise the power without works and over 300 € if something has to be fixed before it can be signed.

Do you do electrical emergencies at night?

We put power call-outs first in the queue, but there is no night shift and we won't pretend there is. If nobody can make it at that hour, we tell you in our first reply. And if the whole flat has no power, check first whether the neighbours have it: when the cut is in the street, it's the distribution company that has to come out.

Can you come just to change two sockets?

Yes, although almost the whole trade charges a minimum per visit and so do we, so make the most of the call-out. Put the loose sockets, the switch that sparks, the dead spotlight in the high ceiling and the new light point in the living room into the same request. It all gets quoted together and the professional arrives with the materials ready.

Who comes into my home, and what if something is left wrong?

An independent professional who works with us, an electrician from your area. You see their name and phone number in your account before they arrive. If something isn't right, you tell us: we handle the complaint and we don't send you off to argue with whoever came to your home.
